Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute - Family Caregiver Workshop

Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute > National Brain Tumor Society Family Caregiver Workshop

The National Brain Tumor Society developed the Family Caregiver Workshop in 2000 as a response to the overwhelming needs expressed by caregivers. The workshop is a full day of presentations from experts in various areas of concern to caregivers. There will also be an opportunity at the end of the day to network, gain support from and share with other attendees. We hope you can join us for this educational and relaxing day for caregivers only!

Topics to be presented included:

  • Brain tumor 101: Tumor basics
  • Guidelines to Managing Symptoms
  • Body Mechanics: Moving safely
  • Neuropsych: Psychological Effects of Tumors on the Brain
  • Caregiver 101: Resources for You and the Patient
  • Palliative Care: Quality of Life and End of Life Issues

Speakers will include a variety of brain tumor specialists, including Dr. James Chandler from the Lurie Cancer Center.
