James A. Sliwa, DO, is Professor for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Director in Residency Training at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago. He is affiliated with the Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute.
Dr. Sliwa also serves as Chief Medical Officer, Chief Quality & Safety Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC). He is responsible for overseeing patient quality and safety throughout the RIC system of care. Through his medical expertise and leadership, Dr. Sliwa is focused on driving the highest level of performance for patient care and outcomes at RIC.
Dr. Sliwa specializes in cancer rehabilitation and treating neurological conditions, such as Post- Polio Syndrome and multiple sclerosis. For several years he has been awarded Top Doctor in Chicago by Chicago Magazine.
He is a member of the Association of Academic Physiatrists, American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association, American Academy of Physical medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Osteopathic College of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
